Spain’s Global Training Aviation has upgraded its ATR 72/500 Level D Full Flight Simulator (FFS) and has received the UPRT, High altitude stall event, full stall and icing certification from EASA.

The simulator is located at GTA Madrid premises, and is the fourth GTA simulator with this certification.

UPRT stands for Upset Prevention and Recovery Training. It is a combination of theoretical knowledge and flying training with the aim of providing flight crew with the required competencies to both prevent and to recover from situations in which an aeroplane unintentionally exceeds the parameters for line operation or training.

The simulator has level D certification, the maximum certification available. This means that one hour of flight on board equals one hour of actual flight in terms of training. The system replicates the behaviour of the aircraft with complete realism.

Pilots train in situations impossible to re-create in the air, such as the failure of an engine or an emergency landing. They also practice landings at any airport in the world, in all kinds of weather conditions.

GTA has offices in three continents (Spain, Indonesia and Colombia) equipped with six state-of-the-art Full Flight Simulators, an A320 FNPT II, an Eca Faros Flight & Maintenance Training Equipment simulator (A320 and B737NG) and a CEET A320, Cabin Emergency Evacuation Training simulator for cabin crew training.
